Duval County Schools Kick-Off Literacy Week at all Chick fil-A locations
Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals started his reading initiative, Read It forward Jax. Principals, teachers and district administrators will be at the Jacksonville locations to discuss literacy and 10% of the purchase you make at Chick fil-A will go towards funding literacy projects. I will be at the Town Center location between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.
In celebrating literacy, join us for Read it Wednesday!
I probably should have thought of something catchier, huh? Every person in the building will be reading Wednesday at 10 am for 20 minutes. Then each class will post outside of their class the combined minutes read. This is where you come in. If you join your child’s class in an independent read, the class minutes increase. If any of us see you in the office at 10 am, we plan to sequester you with a Glamour magazine so we can boost up our minutes, (I’m secretly slightly competitive).
Do you have a daughter in the 3rd, 4th or 5th grade?
Girls On the Run is beginning their spring season at Axson each Monday and Thursday after school. I sent an email link last week. If you haven’t already received the bright green registration form, you will be receiving it this week. Registration ends Jan. 31st. GOTR helps girls build self assuredness and empowerment over their health and well-being.
When volunteering, please remember to sign in AND sign out
Fire safety codes require that I account for every person on campus. We also are required to track volunteer hours. Please help us by remember to stop by the front desk when you volunteer. This goes for field trips as well.

Duval County Spelling Bee
One of the districts finalists competing at the Duval spelling bee is our very own Lauryn. If you are able, join Axson staff in cheering her on Tuesday evening at 6pm at Mandarin Middle School.
